V of Spades (stylized as IV OF SPADES, pronounced "four of spades") is a Filipino rock band from Metro Manila, Philippines, consisting of vocalist, bassist and keyboardist Zild Benitez, vocalist and lead guitarist Blaster Silonga, and vocalist and drummer Badjao de Castro. Unique served as the band's lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist until 2018. The band first gained exposure with the release of their 4th single "Mundo". On August 21, 2020, the band entered a hiatus. Their musical style has been described as "pop funk" and funk rock by the local press. IV of Spades has been nominated for several musical awards, both in the Philippines and internationally. The band is also known for their 1970s-inspired outfits.
Parokya ni Edgar (lit: Edgar's Parish) is a Filipino band formed in 1993. The band is known for its original rock novelty songs and often satirical covers of popular songs both foreign and local. The band is adept at playing in various musical genres. Parokya ni Edgar has been referred to by local media outlets and numerous award-giving bodies as "Pambansang Banda ng Pilipinas" (The National Band of the Philippines). Despite having "Edgar" in the band's name, none of the members are named Edgar.
Enrico de Jesus Puno (February 13, 1953 – October 30, 2018), better known as Rico J. Puno, was a Filipino singer, television host, actor, comedian & politician. He was considered as a music icon in the Philippines. He started the trend of incorporating Tagalog lyrics in his rendition of the American song The Way We Were and other foreign songs. Puno was known as a singer who regularly infused his on-stage performance with tongue-in-cheek comedy and adult humor. He hosted the noontime variety show Pilipinas Win na Win alongside Rey Valera, Marco Sison, and Nonoy Zuñiga for two months in 2010 replacing Kris Aquino. He also hosted on Happy Yipee Yehey! together with John Estrada, Randy Santiago, Mariel Rodriguez, Pokwang and Toni Gonzaga as one of the main host replacing Pilipinas Win na Win. Puno was also active in politics. In 1998, he was elected as the City Councilor of Makati City from its 1st district until his third and last term ended in 2007. He ran for a comeback in 2010 as the vice mayoralty candidate of Makati City, but was unsuccessful. In 2016, Puno was elected as a councilor in Makati, under the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA), until his death.
Herminio Jose Lualhati Alcasid Jr. (born August 27, 1967), better known as Ogie Alcasid (Tagalog pronunciation: [ˈɔɡi ɐlˈkasɪd]), is a Filipino singer-songwriter, television presenter, comedian, parodist, and actor. He is also currently the President of OPM (Organisasyon ng Pilipinong Mang-Aawit).
Silent Sanctuary was formed in 2001 with three founding members Norman Dellosa (vocals, guitars), Paolo Legaspi (bass guitar, backing vocals), and Allen Calixto (drums).[citation needed] As a growing band, they experimented in their music by mixing in classical instruments to make a unique sound, adding the fourth member, Norman's high school classmate Anjo Inacay (cellist) to the line-up. In 2002, they were asked to guest in UnTV's In the Raw where Anjo asked Jett Ramirez to create string arrangements for their performance. More string instrumentalists joined them during that single episode. Later, Jett Ramirez (violist) and Chino David (violinist) were both asked as formal members of the band. The name Silent Sanctuary was coined by Dellosa. In February 2004, they released an independently produced full-length album in Millennia Bar and Cafe in Kamuning entitled Ellipsis of the Mind.[1]On the same year, Dellosa left the band. Later on, Sarkie Sarangay took over vocal duties for the band after Norman Dellosa's departure. Jett Ramirez left the band, after they released their debut single "Rebound" in 2006.[citation needed] Jason Rondero, vocalist/bassist of indie band New Modern became the band's new bassist when Paolo Legaspi left the band after their successful label debut album called Fuchsiang Pag-ibig, a year after Sarangay joined the band.
Music Hero was a Filipino pop band composed of young and talented musicians who are all products of Eat Bulaga!'s music competition of the same name. The group was dubbed by the noontime show as an “elite revolutionary band” because of the variety of musical instruments each member plays. Its final line-up before its disbandment included Manly Ocampo (vocals), Rangel Fernandez (vocals), Fender Dimalanta (electric guitar), Joaquin Rodrigo (drums), RD Benavides (bass guitar), and Brian Feliciano (keyboard).

Francisco Gaudencio Lope Belardo Mañalac[3] (born March 21, 1976),[4][5] popularly known as Bamboo Mañalac or simply Bamboo, is a Filipino American musician and singer-songwriter. He began his career as vocalist and original frontman of Rivermaya and later fronted his own band, Bamboo. Bamboo band disbanded in 2011 and Mañalac then pursued a solo career and released his first solo album, No Water, No Moon. Mañalac is famous for his vocals, which combines a rock style with a mellow approach; he also had a notably energetic style in live performances. His musical and vocal talents as well as his band's polished sound have made him a rock icon in the Philippines. On October 1, 2019, according to Rappler.com, a false article was posted that "Bamboo dies in a car crash". Currently, Bamboo is still alive and no report from any credible news site was released about the car accident he was supposedly in. Because Bamboo suffered minor injuries and was the victim of the death hoax.
Eraserheads (sometimes stylized as ERASƎRHEADS or ƎRASƎRHƎADS) was a Filipino rock band formed in 1989. Consisting of Ely Buendia, Buddy Zabala, Marcus Adoro, and Raimund Marasigan, the band became one of the most successful, most influential, critically acclaimed, and significant bands in the history of Philippine music, leaving a legacy that made them the most commercially successful Filipino music artist of all time. Often dubbed as "The Beatles of the Philippines", they are credited for spearheading a second wave of Manila band invasions,[1] paving the way for a host of Philippine alternative rock bands.[2] The band released several singles, albums, and EPs that reached number one and achieved commercial success with their third album Cutterpillow, which achieved platinum status several times. They received the Viewer's Choice Award at the 1997 MTV Video Music Awards in New York, the only Filipino artist to have received the award before the conception of the MTV Asia Awards.
UDD, formerly known as Up Dharma Down, is a Filipino band formed in Manila in 2004. They have released four albums Fragmented, Bipolar, Capacities and U D D' released under independent record label Terno Recordings. In 2005, the band won the coveted In the Raw Award at the NU 107 Rock Awards as well as Best New Artist and Best Female Award for vocalist and keyboardist, Armi Millare, in 2006.[1] In 2008, they were awarded Favorite Indie Artist at the Myx Music Awards.[2] Mark Coles' BBC show tagged them as the Asian band to most likely cross over to North American shores,[3] and has been featured in numerous regional shows together with bands such as Arcade Fire (Canada) and Bloc Party (UK). They have also been recognized by Paul Buchanan of The Blue Nile, Curt Smith of Tears for Fears and Tim Bowness of No-Man. They were featured in the July 2007 issue of Time magazine.[4] The band has opened for acts such as Red Hot Chili Peppers, Incubus, Bloc Party, The XX, Tegan and Sara, Tahiti 80, and Cut Copy. On January 1, 2017, the band officially renamed to its initials UDD.
Anna Katrina Dumilon Nadal-Lopez (born September 16, 1980) is a Filipina singer-songwriter from Manila, Philippines, formerly the lead vocalist for the alternative rock band, Mojofly. Kitchie's popularity in the female OPM niche grew after she released a self-titled solo album featuring her chart-topping single, Huwag na Huwag Mong Sasabihin.[1] The album has since achieved double platinum status (over 80,000 copies sold).[2] In support of the Millennium Campaign, Kitchie Nadal and 26 other Filipino artists contributed to the album entitled Tayo Tayo Rin Sa 2015 - Sing the Songs. Find your Voice. Change the World. It's your Choice, released by the United Nations (in the Philippines).[3][4] Kitchie, is an alumna of St. Scholastica's College, Manila. While currently touring and preparing for her next album, Kitchie also completed a double degree major in Education and Psychology at De La Salle University-Manila.[5] In 2003, Kitchie revived a Carpenters song, Merry Christmas Darling from the Warner Philippines Christmas album, The Warner Music Philippines All-Stars Christmas Collection. March 2008 Kitchie released her much awaited second album Love Letter with 17 all original tracks. Her latest single Highway, which was used for Caltex, is being aired on the radio. Kitchie Nadal's interpretation of Iniibig Kita has been included in ABS-CBN's first tele-epiko Rounin. In 2008 ABS-CBN picked Kitchie again to sing the theme song, Himala (a Rivermaya original), for their new soap Humingi Ako Sa Langit (retitled as Habang May Buhay). She formerly endorsed multinational gas company Caltex. Nadal appeared in a Caltex commercial along with other international musicians.
Sarah Asher Tua Geronimo-Guidicelli (Tagalog pronunciation: [hɛˈɾɔnɪmo ɡwɪdɪtˈtʃeli], born July 25, 1988) is a Philippine singer, actress, television personality and record producer. Geronimo rose to prominence in 2002, after winning the television singing contest Star for a Night earning her a recording contract with Viva Records and released her debut album Popstar: A Dream Come True in 2003. Geronimo's accolades include a Mnet Asian Music Award in 2012,[1] a MTV Europe Music Award in 2014,[2] a World Music Award in 2014,[3] and a Classic Rock Roll of Honour Award in 2016.[4]
Rivermaya is a Filipino rock band. Formed in 1994, it is one of several bands who spearheaded the 1990s Philippine alternative rock explosion.Rivermaya is currently composed of original members Mark Escueta and Nathan Azarcon, together with longest serving guitarist Mike Elgar. Notable former original members include Rico Blanco and vocalist Bamboo Mañalac, who later formed the band Bamboo and later went on his solo career. Rivermaya is listed in the top twenty five biggest-selling artists/act in the Philippines as of present.
Urbandub is a rock band from Cebu City, Philippines. Since its inception in 2000, the band's line-up consisted of Gabby Alipe, John Dinopol, Lalay Lim, and JanJan Mendoza who joined in 2003. Urbandub is the first indie band in the Philippines to release albums nationwide with the assistance of a major label.
Regina Encarnacion Ansong Velasquez (born April 22, 1970) is a Filipina singer, actor, and record producer who came to prominence after winning the 1984 Ang Bagong Kampeon and the 1989 Asia Pacific Singing Contest. Velasquez signed with OctoArts International under the name Chona in 1986 and released the single "Love Me Again", which was commercially unsuccessful. After adopting the stage name Regine Velasquez, she signed a recording contract with VIVA Records in 1987 and released her eponymous debut album containing the singles "Kung Maibabalik Ko Lang" and "Urong Sulong".

Christian Joseph Morata Bautista (born October 19, 1981), more popularly known by his screen name Christian Bautista, is a Filipino singer, actor, host, and model. He was a finalist of Star in a Million, a Philippine reality show aired on ABS-CBN channel, winning 4th place in the competition in 2003. After the contest, he signed a recording contract with Warner Music Philippines[1] and released his self-titled debut album, Christian Bautista. The multi-platinum album established his name as an OPM artist with songs such as "The Way You Look at Me", "Colour Everywhere" and "Hands to Heaven". The singer gained popularity not only in the Philippines but in other countries in Southeast Asia such as Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand.

The Itchyworms are a Filipino rock band whose music is primarily guitar-driven rock with pronounced 1960s and 1980s pop sensibilities and embellished with two or three-part vocal harmonies. Her ability to sing across several genres gave her the title "Asia's Nightingale" by MTV Southeast Asia.[3] She was also nominated for an Aliw Award for playing Sita in the 1999 Filipino musical Rama at Sita - The Musical.[4]
Barbie's Cradle was a Filipino alternative rock band, formed in 1998 by the remaining members of Barbie Almalbis's previous band, Hungry Young Poets, and disbanded in 2005 when Almalbis took up a solo career. The band released three albums, Barbie's Cradle, Music from the Buffet Table, and Playing in the Fields, the last two of which featured lyrics notable for their Christian-oriented content, brought about by personal changes in the life of songwriter Almalbis. Aside from Almalbis, members over the years included Rommel de la Cruz who played bass throughout the band's existence; drummers Franklin Benitez and Wendell Garcia, who were part of the band before and after the release of Music from the Buffet Table respectively, and Kakoi Legaspi, who took up a second guitar position just prior to the band's dissolution in 2005.
Side A is a Filipino pop band formed in 1985 who gained recognition in the Philippine music scene in the late 1980s through to the early 2000s. They are best known for their hit single "Forevermore".
Francis Michael Durango Magalona (October 4, 1964 – March 6, 2009), also known by the moniker Francis M, was a Filipino rapper, songwriter, entrepreneur & television personality. He is widely regarded as the best and the most successful local Filipino rapper of all-time. Born in Manila, he is often credited as the pioneer of Pinoy hip-hop as he was the first Filipino rapper in the Philippines to cross over into the mainstream. He became a significant influence to artists in the Pinoy hip-hop scene & the local rap community.

Aristotle Pollisco (born October 18, 1977), known professionally as Gloc-9, is a Filipino rapper, singer and songwriter. Regarded as one of the best Filipino rappers of all-time, his fast-flowing vocal style has made him one of the most successful hip-hop artists in the Philippines. He was described by fellow great Filipino rapper Francis Magalona as "a blacksmith of words and letters, and a true Filipino poet."[2]
María Luisa Ramsey Kagahastian-Gotidoc (born March 21, 1970), known professionally as Jaya (/dʒɑːjə/), is a Filipino soul singer, rapper, record producer, actress, dancer and presenter of mixed Jamaican and Visayan descent. She was a talent of GMA Network but later transferred to ABS-CBN, where she serves as one of the head jury of the Tawag ng Tanghalan segment of the Philippine noontime variety show It's Showtime and performer on ASAP. Jaya is the first Filipino recording artist to chart in the United States, as her debut single "If You Leave Me Now" peaked at 44 at the Billboard Hot 100 chart.[1]
Moonstar88 was formed in February 1999.[1] They were signed to Sony BMG by 2007, and later to Ivory Records in 2012.[2] Previously under Backbeat Management,[3] they are now with Soupstar Management under Darwin Hernandez which also handles other bands including Sandwich, Callalily, 6cyclemind, Pedicab. As of April 2008, they had released four albums, Popcorn, Press to Play and Todo Combo. Later, This Year and a collaboration on "Pag-Ibig Ko Sa Iyo", found on RoK On! Music inspired by Ragnarok Online were released in 2012 and 2009 respectively. They performed a rendition of the APO song "Panalangin." It was later added to the tribute album for the band Apo Hiking Society on the album, Kami nAPO Muna. The band has also recorded a cover of Yano's famous song, "Senti".[4]
The name "6cyclemind" comes from the five members plus their manager, Darwin Hernandez of Soupstar Entertainment. Collectively, they all contribute to composing, arranging and brainstorming, which is a continuous cycle in their creation of music, hence 6cyclemind. Carlos "Chuck" Isidro was the former lead guitarist for Afterimage. When Afterimage disbanded, Isidro worked in the recording company. During his stay, he signed up a group managed by Darwin Hernandez where he met Ryan "Rye" Sarmiento, Roberto "Bob" Cañamo, Gilbert "Gibbz" Magat and Rhoneil "Ney" Dimaculangan. Isidro and Hernandez agreed to form a band with them, which became 6cyclemind. Magat was then later replaced by Tutti Caringal of the band Protein Shake.
Aicelle Anne Coronel Santos-Zambrano (born February 24, 1985), is a Filipina singer-songwriter, pianist, and actress who first emerged in the Philippine music scene as a contestant in Star in a Million. She has been known as the "First Undefeated Pinoy Pop Superstar", when she achieved eight straight wins in GMA Network's Pinoy Pop Superstar, "Rock and Soul Diva",[2] "Traffic Diva",[3] and "Soul Flair Songstress".[4] In 2009, she joined ABS-CBN's and TV5's line-up of talents.
Jonalyn "Jona" Roxas Viray (born November 15, 1989[1]), better known by her stage name, Jona is a Filipina singer and occasional actress.[2] She is the first Pinoy Pop Superstar Grand winner. She was the lead singer of trio girl-group La Diva, alongside Maricris Garcia and Aicelle Santos with whom she shared success following her career as a solo artist. The trio earned string of hits with their rendition of songs such as "I'm Yours", "Angels Brought Me Here", "Apologize" and "Stand up For Love". They were chosen to sing the Philippine National Anthem at the Manny Pacquiao vs. Miguel Cotto boxing match in Las Vegas as well as the theme song of Philippine remake of the Mexican telenovela Rosalinda. Following the group's disbandment and her return as a solo artist she released her single 'Help Me Get Over' which was awarded the 'Song of the Year' at the 6th PMPC Star Awards for Music.[3]
Orange and Lemons is a Filipino pop rock band founded and formed in 1999 by Cyndela Jusona and lead vocalist and guitarist Clem Castro along with Ace and JM del Mundo. Former member, Mcoy Fundales served as the lead vocalist and guitarist since its formation until its last reception in 2007. The group's musical genre's been a mix of alternative rock, indie pop and experimental music and heavily influenced by several well-respected bands in different generations like The Smiths, The Beatles and the Eraserheads. The band had released three several albums and gained commercial success with their sophomore album Strike Whilst the Iron is Hot released in 2005
Formed in 1998 in Cebu by Fritz Labrado, Jovan Mabini and Mike Manaloto, the word Cueshé is a portmanteau of "Cue", from banana cue; a snack delicacy in the Philippines, which are skewered bananas coated with caramel, and the pronoun "shé" (pronounced shay) is a reference to their former vocalist, which is a female (she) who joined in 1999. After the female vocalist left in 2001, she was replaced by Jay Justiniani. Jhunjie Dosdos and Ruben Caballero were later recruited in 2002 and 2003 respectively. In March 2005, the band decided to move to the Philippine capital of Manila. The group achieved hit singles ("Stay", "Sorry", "Ulan", "Can't Let You Go" and "24 Hours"), a double platinum album (Half Empty, Half Full), accolades (Favorite Artist, Favorite Group and Favorite Song for the song "Stay" at the 1st MYX Music Awards; SMART Texters Choice Hitmaker of the Year at the 2006 MTV Pilipinas Awards; Band of the Year at the 2006 SOP PasiklaBand Awards; and Best Breakthrough Artist at the 2005 SOP Music Awards), within the span of a year.[citation needed]

Jose "Joe" Mari Lim Chan (born March 11, 1945 in Iloilo City) is a Filipino singer, songwriter and businessman in the sugar industry. The band entered the Philippine music scene with their songs "Stars", "Take My Hand", their breakthrough single "Magbalik", "Pasan" (which was also included in the soundtrack of Lineage II),and "Sanctuary", all from their debut album Destination XYZ. Their second album, Fisheye followed not long after, which scored its first single "Susundan", dedicated to the death of their friend Jan Kevin Santos (sound manipulator & unclean vocals of Chicosci). A commercial jingle "Eto na ang Summer"[1] that was specially composed for Sony Ericsson, also received airplay. Callalily vocalist Kean Cipriano collaborated with Paraluman vocalist Madeline Ramboyong with their hit single "Tabi", from Paraluman's debut album In Lab!, launched in 2008.[2] Cipriano has also taken a new responsibility in acting on the top rated hit Sunday noontime teen television series BFGF with leading lady TV host and actress Alex Gonzaga on TV5. Half of the band's songs and new ones are used on that TV series with "Yakap" as its theme song and "Magbalik" as a background track. Cipriano is also a co-host of Sunday musical variety show, P.O.5. He is also formerly part of the sitcom Hapi Together and the magical comedy reality show, Magic Gimik. He was also formerly seen on Magic Bagsik and on the sitcom, Sugod Mga Kapatid, both aired on TV5. The Apolinario Mabini Hiking Society, later popularly known as APO Hiking Society, or simply APO, was a Filipino musical group.[2] The group had its fledgling beginnings in 1969 at the Ateneo de Manila high school, with 15 members:[2] John Paul Micayabas, Lito de Joya, Sonny Santiago, Gus Cosio, Renato Garcia, Chito Kintanar, Kenny Barton, Bruce Brown, Butch Dans, Kinjo Sawada, Ric Segreto Macaraeg, Goff Macaraeg, Doden Besa, Jim Paredes, and Boboy Garovillo. The group's name was created from the acronym AMHS representing their school with a witty twist having an irreverent reference to the paralyzed Philippine revolutionary intellectual and hero, Apolinario Mabini, and later shortened to "Apo", an Ilocano term for a wise man or a Tagalog term of grandchildren, and later re-branded to "APO" (all caps). Contrary to popular belief, the "Apo" name was not a reference to the Philippines's highest peak, the potentially-active stratovolcano Mount Apo.

Enrico de Jesus Puno (February 13, 1953 – October 30, 2018), better known as Rico J. Puno, was a Filipino singer, television host, actor, comedian & politician. He was considered as a music icon in the Philippines. He started the trend of incorporating Tagalog lyrics in his rendition of the American song The Way We Were and other foreign songs. Puno was known as a singer who regularly infused his on-stage performance with tongue-in-cheek comedy and adult humor. He hosted the noontime variety show Pilipinas Win na Win alongside Rey Valera, Marco Sison, and Nonoy Zuñiga for two months in 2010 replacing Kris Aquino. He also hosted on Happy Yipee Yehey! together with John Estrada, Randy Santiago, Mariel Rodriguez, Pokwang and Toni Gonzaga as one of the main host replacing Pilipinas Win na Win. Puno was also active in politics. In 1998, he was elected as the City Councilor of Makati City from its 1st district until his third and last term ended in 2007. He ran for a comeback in 2010 as the vice mayoralty candidate of Makati City, but was unsuccessful. In 2016, Puno was elected as a councilor in Makati, under the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA), until his death.

He began his career as vocalist and original frontman of Rivermaya and later fronted his own band, Bamboo. Bamboo band disbanded in 2011 and Mañalac then pursued a solo career and released his first solo album, No Water, No Moon. Mañalac is famous for his vocals, which combines a rock style with a mellow approach; he also had a notably energetic style in live performances. His musical and vocal talents as well as his band's polished sound have made him a rock icon in the Philippines. On October 1, 2019, according to Rappler.com, a false article was posted that "Bamboo dies in a car crash". Currently, Bamboo is still alive and no report from any credible news site was released about the car accident he was supposedly in. Because Bamboo suffered minor injuries and was the victim of the death hoax.
Anna Katrina Dumilon Nadal-Lopez (born September 16, 1980) is a Filipina singer-songwriter from Manila, Philippines, formerly the lead vocalist for the alternative rock band, Mojofly. Kitchie's popularity in the female OPM niche grew after she released a self-titled solo album featuring her chart-topping single, Huwag na Huwag Mong Sasabihin.[1] The album has since achieved double platinum status (over 80,000 copies sold).[2] In support of the Millennium Campaign, Kitchie Nadal and 26 other Filipino artists contributed to the album entitled Tayo Tayo Rin Sa 2015 - Sing the Songs. V of Spades (stylized as IV OF SPADES, pronounced "four of spades") is a Filipino rock band from Metro Manila, Philippines, consisting of vocalist, bassist and keyboardist Zild Benitez, vocalist and lead guitarist Blaster Silonga, and vocalist and drummer Badjao de Castro. Unique served as the band's lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist until 2018. The band first gained exposure with the release of their 4th single "Mundo". On August 21, 2020, the band entered a hiatus. Their musical style has been described as "pop funk" and funk rock by the local press. IV of Spades has been nominated for several musical awards, both in the Philippines and internationally. The band is also known for their 1970s-inspired outfits.
Parokya ni Edgar (lit: Edgar's Parish) is a Filipino band formed in 1993. The band is known for its original rock novelty songs and often satirical covers of popular songs both foreign and local. The band is adept at playing in various musical genres. Parokya ni Edgar has been referred to by local media outlets and numerous award-giving bodies as "Pambansang Banda ng Pilipinas" (The National Band of the Philippines). Despite having "Edgar" in the band's name, none of the members are named Edgar.
Silent Sanctuary was formed in 2001 with three founding members Norman Dellosa (vocals, guitars), Paolo Legaspi (bass guitar, backing vocals), and Allen Calixto (drums).[citation needed] As a growing band, they experimented in their music by mixing in classical instruments to make a unique sound, adding the fourth member, Norman's high school classmate Anjo Inacay (cellist) to the line-up. In 2002, they were asked to guest in UnTV's In the Raw where Anjo asked Jett Ramirez to create string arrangements for their performance. More string instrumentalists joined them during that single episode. Later, Jett Ramirez (violist) and Chino David (violinist) were both asked as formal members of the band. The name Silent Sanctuary was coined by Dellosa. In February 2004, they released an independently produced full-length album in Millennia Bar and Cafe in Kamuning entitled Ellipsis of the Mind.[1]On the same year, Dellosa left the band. Later on, Sarkie Sarangay took over vocal duties for the band after Norman Dellosa's departure. Jett Ramirez left the band, after they released their debut single "Rebound" in 2006.[citation needed] Jason Rondero, vocalist/bassist of indie band New Modern became the band's new bassist when Paolo Legaspi left the band after their successful label debut album called Fuchsiang Pag-ibig, a year after Sarangay joined the band.
Music Hero was a Filipino pop band composed of young and talented musicians who are all products of Eat Bulaga!'s music competition of the same name. The group was dubbed by the noontime show as an “elite revolutionary band” because of the variety of musical instruments each member plays. Its final line-up before its disbandment included Manly Ocampo (vocals), Rangel Fernandez (vocals), Fender Dimalanta (electric guitar), Joaquin Rodrigo (drums), RD Benavides (bass guitar), and Brian Feliciano (keyboard).

Consisting of Ely Buendia, Buddy Zabala, Marcus Adoro, and Raimund Marasigan, the band became one of the most successful, most influential, critically acclaimed, and significant bands in the history of Philippine music, leaving a legacy that made them the most commercially successful Filipino music artist of all time. Often dubbed as "The Beatles of the Philippines", they are credited for spearheading a second wave of Manila band invasions,[1] paving the way for a host of Philippine alternative rock bands.[2] The band released several singles, albums, and EPs that reached number one and achieved commercial success with their third album Cutterpillow, which achieved platinum status several times. They received the Viewer's Choice Award at the 1997 MTV Video Music Awards in New York, the only Filipino artist to have received the award before the conception of the MTV Asia Awards.
UDD, formerly known as Up Dharma Down, is a Filipino band formed in Manila in 2004. They have released four albums Fragmented, Bipolar, Capacities and U D D' released under independent record label Terno Recordings. In 2005, the band won the coveted In the Raw Award at the NU 107 Rock Awards as well as Best New Artist and Best Female Award for vocalist and keyboardist, Armi Millare, in 2006.[1] In 2008, they were awarded Favorite Indie Artist at the Myx Music Awards.[2] Mark Coles' BBC show tagged them as the Asian band to most likely cross over to North American shores,[3] and has been featured in numerous regional shows together with bands such as Arcade Fire (Canada) and Bloc Party (UK). They have also been recognized by Paul Buchanan of The Blue Nile, Curt Smith of Tears for Fears and Tim Bowness of No-Man. They were featured in the July 2007 issue of Time magazine.[4] The band has opened for acts such as Red Hot Chili Peppers, Incubus, Bloc Party, The XX, Tegan and Sara, Tahiti 80, and Cut Copy. On January 1, 2017, the band officially renamed to its initials UDD.

The Itchyworms are a Filipino rock band whose music is primarily guitar-driven rock with pronounced 1960s and 1980s pop sensibilities and embellished with two or three-part vocal harmonies. The group made their name in the OPM (Original Pilipino Music) scene in 2006 with their sophomore effort Noontime Showwith songs such as "Akin Ka Na Lang" and "Beer."
South Border is a Filipino pop and R&B band formed in the early 1990s who gained recognition in the music scene in the late 1990s to the 2000s.
Paramita was a pop rock act in the Philippines that played their own brand of music from 2005 to 2013. Paramita was made up of Marco De Leon on guitars (replacing Norman Dellosa), Alsey Cortez on bass, and Ria Bautista on drums and vocals. Paramita have released three several albums in its career.
Barbie's Cradle was a Filipino alternative rock band, formed in 1998 by the remaining members of Barbie Almalbis's previous band, Hungry Young Poets, and disbanded in 2005 when Almalbis took up a solo career. The band released three albums, Barbie's Cradle, Music from the Buffet Table, and Playing in the Fields, the last two of which featured lyrics notable for their Christian-oriented content, brought about by personal changes in the life of songwriter Almalbis. Aside from Almalbis, members over the years included Rommel de la Cruz who played bass throughout the band's existence; drummers Franklin Benitez and Wendell Garcia, who were part of the band before and after the release of Music from the Buffet Table respectively, and Kakoi Legaspi, who took up a second guitar position just prior to the band's dissolution in 2005.
Side A is a Filipino pop band formed in 1985 who gained recognition in the Philippine music scene in the late 1980s through to the early 2000s. They are best known for their hit single "Forevermore".
Kjwan is a Filipino hard rock band formed in 2003 by former Sandwich guitarist and lead vocalist Marc Abaya and Dicta License bassist Kelley Mangahas.
Stonefree was a 4-piece Filipino band that consists of members Regie Mangubat (bass), Relly Mangubat (drums), Benson Tanoja (guitar) and Miro Valera (vocals). They were recently signed under Warner Music Philippines.
Moonstar88 was formed in February 1999.[1] They were signed to Sony BMG by 2007, and later to Ivory Records in 2012.[2] Previously under Backbeat Management,[3] they are now with Soupstar Management under Darwin Hernandez which also handles other bands including Sandwich, Callalily, 6cyclemind, Pedicab. As of April 2008, they had released four albums, Popcorn, Press to Play and Todo Combo. Later, This Year and a collaboration on "Pag-Ibig Ko Sa Iyo", found on RoK On! Music inspired by Ragnarok Online were released in 2012 and 2009 respectively. They performed a rendition of the APO song "Panalangin." It was later added to the tribute album for the band Apo Hiking Society on the album, Kami nAPO Muna. The band has also recorded a cover of Yano's famous song, "Senti".[4]
The name "6cyclemind" comes from the five members plus their manager, Darwin Hernandez of Soupstar Entertainment. Collectively, they all contribute to composing, arranging and brainstorming, which is a continuous cycle in their creation of music, hence 6cyclemind. Carlos "Chuck" Isidro was the former lead guitarist for Afterimage. When Afterimage disbanded, Isidro worked in the recording company. During his stay, he signed up a group managed by Darwin Hernandez where he met Ryan "Rye" Sarmiento, Roberto "Bob" Cañamo, Gilbert "Gibbz" Magat and Rhoneil "Ney" Dimaculangan. Isidro and Hernandez agreed to form a band with them, which became 6cyclemind. Magat was then later replaced by Tutti Caringal of the band Protein Shake.
Orange and Lemons is a Filipino pop rock band founded and formed in 1999 by Cyndela Jusona and lead vocalist and guitarist Clem Castro along with Ace and JM del Mundo. Former member, Mcoy Fundales served as the lead vocalist and guitarist since its formation until its last reception in 2007. The group's musical genre's been a mix of alternative rock, indie pop and experimental music and heavily influenced by several well-respected bands in different generations like The Smiths, The Beatles and the Eraserheads. The band had released three several albums and gained commercial success with their sophomore album Strike Whilst the Iron is Hot released in 2005
Formed in 1998 in Cebu by Fritz Labrado, Jovan Mabini and Mike Manaloto, the word Cueshé is a portmanteau of "Cue", from banana cue; a snack delicacy in the Philippines, which are skewered bananas coated with caramel, and the pronoun "shé" (pronounced shay) is a reference to their former vocalist, which is a female (she) who joined in 1999. After the female vocalist left in 2001, she was replaced by Jay Justiniani. Jhunjie Dosdos and Ruben Caballero were later recruited in 2002 and 2003 respectively. In March 2005, the band decided to move to the Philippine capital of Manila. The group achieved hit singles ("Stay", "Sorry", "Ulan", "Can't Let You Go" and "24 Hours"), a double platinum album (Half Empty, Half Full), accolades (Favorite Artist, Favorite Group and Favorite Song for the song "Stay" at the 1st MYX Music Awards; SMART Texters Choice Hitmaker of the Year at the 2006 MTV Pilipinas Awards; Band of the Year at the 2006 SOP PasiklaBand Awards; and Best Breakthrough Artist at the 2005 SOP Music Awards), within the span of a year.[citation needed]
The band entered the Philippine music scene with their songs "Stars", "Take My Hand", their breakthrough single "Magbalik", "Pasan" (which was also included in the soundtrack of Lineage II),and "Sanctuary", all from their debut album Destination XYZ. Their second album, Fisheye followed not long after, which scored its first single "Susundan", dedicated to the death of their friend Jan Kevin Santos (sound manipulator & unclean vocals of Chicosci). A commercial jingle "Eto na ang Summer"[1] that was specially composed for Sony Ericsson, also received airplay. Callalily vocalist Kean Cipriano collaborated with Paraluman vocalist Madeline Ramboyong with their hit single "Tabi", from Paraluman's debut album In Lab!, launched in 2008.[2] Cipriano has also taken a new responsibility in acting on the top rated hit Sunday noontime teen television series BFGF with leading lady TV host and actress Alex Gonzaga on TV5. Half of the band's songs and new ones are used on that TV series with "Yakap" as its theme song and "Magbalik" as a background track. Cipriano is also a co-host of Sunday musical variety show, P.O.5. He is also formerly part of the sitcom Hapi Together and the magical comedy reality show, Magic Gimik. He was also formerly seen on Magic Bagsik and on the sitcom, Sugod Mga Kapatid, both aired on TV5. Callalily also appeared in the movie "Praybeyt Benjamin" and " Of all the Things" movie of Aga Muhlach and Regine Velasquez
The Apolinario Mabini Hiking Society, later popularly known as APO Hiking Society, or simply APO, was a Filipino musical group.[2] The group had its fledgling beginnings in 1969 at the Ateneo de Manila high school, with 15 members:[2] John Paul Micayabas, Lito de Joya, Sonny Santiago, Gus Cosio, Renato Garcia, Chito Kintanar, Kenny Barton, Bruce Brown, Butch Dans, Kinjo Sawada, Ric Segreto Macaraeg, Goff Macaraeg, Doden Besa, Jim Paredes, and Boboy Garovillo. The group's name was created from the acronym AMHS representing their school with a witty twist having an irreverent reference to the paralyzed Philippine revolutionary intellectual and hero, Apolinario Mabini, and later shortened to "Apo", an Ilocano term for a wise man or a Tagalog term of grandchildren, and later re-branded to "APO" (all caps). Contrary to popular belief, the "Apo" name was not a reference to the Philippines's highest peak, the potentially-active stratovolcano Mount Apo.
